Before configuring PMDF-X400, you must have installed PMDF and PMDF-X400, and must have configured PMDF. If you have not already configured PMDF, then do so now. Refer to the PMDF Installation Guide for instructions.

Operation of PMDF-X400 is controlled through several files containing configuration information. The PMDF-X400 configuration utility, PMDF CONFIGURE X400 (OpenVMS) or pmdf configure x400 (UNIX), is used to initially generate the required configuration files for PMDF-X400. Refer to the PMDF-X400 chapters in the appropriate edition of the PMDF Installation Guide for detailed instructions on using the PMDF-X400 configuration utility, as well as an example configuration session. Note that the PMDF-X400 configuration utility, will, when it is finished, produce a checklist of final steps you must perform manually in order to complete your configuration.

The sections below describe the various PMDF-X400 configuration files. Sites can customize their PMDF-X400 configuration by manually altering the files in accordance with the various options described. Note that Process Software strongly recommends that the PMDF-X400 configuration utility be used to generate the initial PMDF-X400 configuration files.
