SIMH

This files in this directory are a local copy of the SIMH package developed
by The Computer History Simulation Project. You can find more about them at
http://simh.trailing-edge.com/

SIMHV210-2.ZIP is the SIMH distribution without modification.

SIMHV210-2.SIT is a MacoS X Stuffit archive containing the above, together
with my build of the VAX emulator. (Compiled on Mac OS X 10.1)

SIMVAX.SIT is a MacOS X Stuffit archive of a working VAX emulator. It
contains the VAX emulator binary, VAX console ROM load file, and a system
disk image modelled on an RA92 (1.5GB capacity). There is also a 'simh'
command file, simvax_boot.com, which can be used to ease the booting
process.

To get started, unpack the SIMVAX.SIT archive into a directory, 'cd' to
that directory then type the command './vax simvax_boot.com'. This will
start the VAX emulator, set up the VAX hardware environment, load the
console ROM image and start the CPU running. You should see the familiar
VAX power-up self-test sequence and the console prompt >>>. Now type BOOT
and press return ...

You should find yourself watching a boot of OpenVMS V7.3 on node SIMVAX.
The SYSTEM password is POWERBOOKG4.

The main limitation here is that there is no network support in the MacOS X
build. The SIMH distribution contains more details about building Ethernet
support, but I haven't attempted it yet.
