                         "Demystifying the Web"

    The Adelaide LUG Committee has been busy making preparations for a
    weekend conference.  This is the first such event for Adelaide in
    approximately two years and signals a resurgance in state based
    events around the country.

    The conference will present a number of papers over one and half
    days on the subject of the World Wide Web -- what it is and how
    you can use it.

    Timetable
    ---------
    The weekend will begin on the morning of Saturday 3rd May with a
    Keynote Address by Paul Whiteway, Internet Business Development
    Manager for Digital Equipment Corporation.  Paul's topic is
    "Digital's Internet Directions and Business Strategy" and is sure
    to set the scene for the papers which follow.

    Other papers for Saturday include:

    	Kym Teh, EDS Australia: "Internet Commerce - Managing the Risks"

    	Bill O'Conner, Access One, "Choosing an ISP"

	Ross Williams, Rocksoft, "Developing a Corporate Web Culture"



    Sunday's papers are of a more "hands-on" nature, concentrating on
    practical ways to get your business active on the Internet.  For
    example:

    	Richard Sharpe, NS Computer Software & Services, "CGI Scripting"

    	Jeremy Begg, VSM Software Services, "OpenVMS Web Tools"

    Social activities include a 3-course dinner on Saturday evening
    and an informal BBQ lunch on Sunday to close the proceedings.

    ----
    The registratin fee depends upon your DECUS membership status:

    Financial Member		$ 160 (Paid-up individual DECUS member)
    Corporate Member		$ 145 (Up to 2 employees)
    Non-financial Member	$ 210 (Includes $50 DECUS membership fee)
    Non-Member			$ 250 (If you really don't want to join DECUS)

    Partner meal tickets are available as follows:

    Saturday dinner	$ 45
    Sunday BBQ		$ 25



    Registration
    ------------
    Registration kits will be sent to all known DECUS members
    (financial or otherwise) in the Adelaide and Portland LUGs.

    Registration will also be available on the day but you are advised
    to register in advance as places are limited.
